Iguana Yachts has the answer

Many Captains ask why would they need a boat with a track system that allows it to run up the shore and then motor across virtually any terrain

Because say the manufacturers of the Iguana, “It offers solutions to so many boating predicaments. It makes the perfect addition to any yacht. Packed with features, it is easy to tow or stow and because the tracks are seamlessly integrated into the hull while at sea it makes the ideal all purpose superyacht tender.”

The Captain of Lady Azul a 39 metre Heesen built in 2001 runs her as a charter yacht in the Caribbean and here he provides a glimpse into what life as an Iguana user is really like.

He says, “We run a busy charter yacht through the Caribbean. During high season we have back to back guests and we’ll cover miles of ocean, all towing the Iguana.

From a crew perspective we love the boat. She’s easy to use and maintain. For beach set ups we used to need 4 crew, now we do it with only two and it takes half the time.

Previously named Serenity J the luxurious interior on board Lady Azul was designed by Paola D. Smith & Associates and her exterior styling is by Omega Architects.

Her interior layout sleeps up to 10 guests in 5 rooms, including a master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew on board to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.

Refitted in 2015, she has Trac zero speed stabilisers, a large garage and a swim platform. Fitted with twin Caterpillar 3412C-DITA 825hp engines, she cruises at 12 knots and is both economical to run and quiet while under way. With her 46,500 litre fuel capacity, she is range capable of 3,500 nautical miles at cruising speed.

But it is her towed tender that makes her stand out from the crowd.  The Captain says of his Iguana, “Client collections are now safer, even supply runs are better (so much easier to load when the boat is on land.) We can now transfer anywhere without the need for a marina. The Iguana tender has reduced the fatigue of the crew and we have more time to deliver for the guests.”

He adds, “From a guest point of view, they really love it. Because she is a dry and comfortable ride, it is easy to enjoy beaches that would be inaccessible with a normal tender. Features like the sound system, fridge and shower make a difference to guests who want to enjoy extended time on the beach.  Guests always enjoy how easy it is to commute, arriving effortlessly in style.”

“The kids love how it lands on the beach and using the bow as a diving platform. The flush transom is perfect for snorkelling and because she can be set up so quickly for watersports the decision can be made at a moments notice.”

“Everyone loves how easy it is to embark and disembark. Not worrying about the boat moving or crew attempting to hold the boat in choppy waves.’

“On the whole the Iguana makes a huge difference to the crew’s performance and the guests enjoyment. We missed the Caribbean season last year but we’re looking forward to getting back to it.”
