Industry associations MYBA and LYBRA are currently inviting those working in the superyacht industry to submit nominations for the Richard Earp Award 2018. Following the sad passing of the well-respected broker Richard Earp in 2016, an inaugural award was presented last year in his honour.
Richard was renowned for his gentlemanly conduct and fair negotiations as a broker, valuable attributes that should be encouraged in this growing and competitive industry.
The Richard Earp Award is once again open to nominees from the yacht brokerage sector who will be judged on several attributes that were strongly associated with Richard’s personality and work ethic: transparency, fair and ethical behaviour, charisma and style.
Nominees should also be well respected within the industry, have longevity as a broker and still be active in the market today.
The Judging Panel will be comprised of a group of experienced and highly respected senior figures from across the industry.
They will review all the nominations and discuss who excels in these criteria the most. The judges include:
- Fiona Maureso – Immediate Past President of MYBA
- Eric Blair – Secretary General of LYBRA
- Other senior figures in the industry
All of the judging panel knew Richard well and respected him for his values. Commenting on the presentation of the Award, Fiona Maureso explains; “Richard’s colleagues and friends in the industry wanted to find a way to honour his memory and ensure that his attributes and qualities are recognised, encouraged and promoted throughout the industry.
As well as being one of the fairest yacht brokers to work with he also had a great sense of humour and charisma that was appreciated by everyone he met.
The first Award was justifiably presented to Alex Lees-Buckley who is a very well-respected and admired broker, and we are now looking for the next worthy recipient.”
The Award will be jointly presented by MYBA and LYBRA on the 2nd May 2018 at The Superyacht Show in Barcelona.
To nominate a broker for the award send an email to info@myba.net with the name of the nominated broker, a short paragraph describing the reasons for their nomination plus any other supporting evidence by Friday 13th April.
Please note that brokers cannot nominate themselves.
