As the top charter destination in Turks & Caicos, Providenciales received a near direct hit from Hurricane Irma earlier this year in September and has worked tirelessly to complete repairs to Blue Haven Marina and ensure dockage is available for visiting yachts.
Blue Haven Marina is open and accepting dockage reservations for this yachting season. The dockmasters have been busy catching lines, taking reservations, and arranging concierge services for guests. At this time, approximately 50% of the slips are open and available to accommodate vessels during their stays in Turks & Caicos. Reservations are highly recommended as vessels are arriving daily and there is limited slip availability through the Turks & Caicos islands.
The marina’s fuelling system has passed thorough testing and is providing ultra-low-sulphur diesel as well as non-ethanol gasoline at the fuel dock. Additional marina services, such as concierge, pilotage, and on-site customs & immigration are fully operational and assisting current guests. In-slip water and power are expected to be fully restored to the docks by January 1, 2018.
The marina opened in Autumn 2013 and achieved its first 5 Gold Anchor Accreditation from The Yacht Harbour Association in 2014. 5 Gold
Anchor Accreditations are issued every three (3) years and candidates must meet industry standards and maintain the highest ratings in categories with direct regards to, Marina Audit, Mystery Shops, and Berth Holders Questionnaires.
“We are thankful for the tremendous support from IGY Marinas, our shareholders, contractors, inspectors, our community, and most of all, our marina team for their dedication in helping us accomplish our goal to re-open this season,” said Adam Foster, General Manager of Blue Haven Marina. “We look forward to welcoming all vessels and providing the best accommodations and level of services available in the Caribbean.”
The Turks & Caicos Islands, overall, have rebounded incredibly well. The reef that surrounds them was not damaged and still offers access to some of the best diving in the world. The the island’s day to day activity, business, and commerce are all fully operational, including island grocers, provision stores, repair shops, shopping areas, restaurants, FBO’s, excursions and adventures.
