Designed by mariners for use by mariners, new, super-fast, touchscreen ECDIS technology has been wrapped up in industry-leading, maintenance-free, solid-state hardware especially for use aboard superyachts.
From offices in Florida and the UK, Yachtprojects International is exclusively distributing the Seall ECDIS to the superyacht industry. It is one of just two touch-screen ECDIS units on the market today and is the best the marine industry has to offer.
The system is simple to install, simple to commission, simple to train the user, and simple to use.
Using seamless integration it has been tested and approved for use by DNV/GL and has been installed by many leading operators in the commercial shipping sector.
The touchscreen function lends itself well to the newest in “Glass Bridge” technology emerging aboard high-end yachts of today.
The 24 x 24 Hatteland screen, slots into any existing bridge layout or, if preferred, the unit can be surface mounted.
When used in a refurbishment environment, the system is very simple and quick to install, as the required NMEA inputs will be at hand. From start-up to full operation is simplified with self-configuration (sensor Input: ENCs, LOG, GYRO, AIS, ARPA, ECHO SOUNDER Output: VDR, BAMS, BNWAS), easy-to-use, on-screen keys and logically considered step-by-step inputs.
Route preparation is as simple as running a finger across a screen and a slight pressure drops the waypoint into position.
Once finished, a one-step route verification process is achieved at the press of another touchscreen button.
Following verification, users can peruse the planned route assessing and making changes. Easy-to-see colour coded markers make each step foolproof.
The required ENC is then presented and en-route dangers and chosen safety margins displayed in easily accessible text display boxes.
In active mode consistent alarms signals sound until issues are corrected. In planning mode these alarms can be silenced.
Extremely cost competitive and incredibly easy to use, the unit carries an IACS member certification and comes complete with all installation manuals and a CBT training course that can be completed inside 30 minutes.
For a small annual fee the system is maintained in line with the latest IMO legislation with software updates that work with all ENC suppliers.
Over 100 visitors attended product demonstrations at FLIBS and this result in product sales. The company will be conducting further demonstrations in USSA Pavilion in the SuperYacht section at METS taking place at the RAI in Amsterdam from 14th to 16th of November 2017.
