The luxury island resort Amilla Fushi in the Maldives is attracting the attention of yachts now that its newest development the Amilla Yacht Club (AYC), is up and running
Since opening as one of the Indian Ocean’s most talked-about island resorts, many of the world’s most prestigious private yachts have already voyaged to Amilla Fushi seeking its inimitable blend of laid-back laissez-flair. The development of the Amilla Yacht Club and its marina facilities allows for refuelling, provisioning, maintenance and repairs (technicians can be brought from Malé), while yacht owners and their guests take some shore leave at Amilla Fushi before heading off to explore the UNESCO protected Baa Atoll and the resorts sister property Finolhu
The Amilla Yacht Club Marina has three berths, each with three phase shore power and water, and can accommodate yachts up to a maximum of 20 metres, with a 2 metre draft. Larger yachts (over 20m) are also welcome to anchor outside the reef and enjoy all the Amilla Yacht Club facilities and benefits.
Amilla Yacht Club membership benefits include island and lagoon access at both Amilla and Finolhu, allowing use of both resorts’ facilities including the pools, beach clubs, spa and dining facilities; 10 per cent off all available Houses, Villas and Residences; 10 per cent off all food and beverage, spa, excursions and watersports at both resorts; and special access to exclusive events and parties. Private dinner events can be arranged at Finolhu’s famous Fish & Crab Shack, and a 10 per cent discount is offered on day rental of Funadhoo Private Island.
Yacht owners can also request a spa therapist for on-board treatments, refuelling by ship in Amilla Bay or Finolhu outer reef areas (24 hours notice), and provisions supply.
Serious seadogs can also while away their shore leave at Amilla’s Home of the Underwater Biosphere the island’s epicentre of water-based activities offering remarkable aquatic excursions, a comprehensive Marine Biology programme, adrenaline-fuelled water sports, dazzling diving and boat charters courtesy of Dive Butler International.
As well as operating Amilla’s extensive private boat charter fleet including the luxuriously appointed, traditionally hand-crafted 20m Maldivian dhoni, Sloop John B and the 13m luxury cruiser Vismara – Dive Butler’s on-island team can also provide visiting yachts and superyachts with itinerary planning services throughout the Maldives; private cruise directors and scuba instructors/guides; and dive support vessels.
Amilla Yacht Club membership is by invitation only. Discretionary membership is also extended on a complimentary basis to guests booking a pre-purchased credit stay of seven nights at Amilla Fushi or 10 nights at Finolhu.
