In Holland, Hessen Yachts have launched the world’s first Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) with hybrid propulsion.
The owner christened his new yacht Home during a ceremony at the shipyard facility in Oss.
Home is not only a highly efficient, low fuel-burning yacht but she is also one of the quietest on the oceans, offering the ability to cruise silently.
Using two water cooled DC electric shaft motors, each 127 kW, she will cruise at 9 knots using the generators alone, allowing the crew to leave the harbour without even waking the Owner and his guests.
Home is a 50m aluminium motoryacht below the 500gt threshold with a radical exterior design by Omega Architects. Because of her small draught of 2.15 metres, she is the ideal yacht for sailing the shallow waters of the Bahamas.
The Owner, a yacht enthusiast, appointed Cristiano Gatto Design to create an interior style that matches his lifestyle.
Her contemporary profile with vertical bow, striking superstructure, wide central staircase to access the spacious aft platform from the main deck and profuse use of glass, are just some of the design features that make this yacht stand out.
The yacht is expected remain at the fitting out berth in Oss to commission her systems, and will then move to Rotterdam where she will undergo her sea trials and official tests before delivery to her owners in June.
