The show is over the jury have cast their votes and it is a pretty sure thing that they have voted the 2017 MYBA Charter Show the best MYBA event ever
The numbers almost speak for themselves. 56 yachts totalling 2438 linear metres and 29,000 gross tonnes were lined up on the quay for 495 brokers and charter managers in attendance to inspect and appraise yachts at what was the very first charter how to be held at OneOcean Port Vell Barcelona.
107 exhibitors stands plied their trade and scores of vendors tried their best to interrupt the smooth running of yacht visits by pestering the 554 or so crew members who were all working very hard to ensure their yacht was in the pole position to gain the best charter opportunities.
25 sponsors expressing their support were happy to see the total number of attendees exceed 1750.
Sponsored by Tanqueray #TEN and Dockwalk magazine, MYBA’s own “Art in a Glass¨ cocktail creation competition has got off to a flying start. The prize winning ceremony applauded: Kate Barnett of Cheetah Moon as the overall winner.
Runner up and winner of the Most Creative award was Chris Snyder of Twilight and the award for Best Guest Experience was picked up by Madhi Meister the Chief Stewardess serving aboard Jaguar. Congratulations to the winners for a job well done.
The Superyacht Chefs´ Competition, sponsored by SuperYachtWorld magazine and Sagittarius Spain, proved to be a true challenge. Artistic table scapes, inspired dishes and creative presentations made the judging process a difficult one.
The judges awarded the first prize for boats 39 metres and under to Jean Mathew chef aboard Twilight. The prize for the 40-54-metre category was lifted by Mikeldi Corcuera from MQ2 and the first prize for yachts 55 metres and over went to Dean Conbeer of the chef aboard Icon.
