They say the magic of Harry Potter lives on for ever but when it comes to superyachts it seems the magic of owning one has withered for Potter author J K Rowling.
It was during the summer of 2015 that the author and her husband chartered the yacht Amphitrite. The magic the yacht cast upon the couple must have been so strong that they purchased the yacht from a US Shopping magnate in the early part of this year for a figure close to the asking price of US$ 29 million.
The spell clearly did not last long nor did the plan to put her back into the charter market for 72K a week because now the yacht is for sale again. This time at a figure far below the twenty two million mark.
Former superyacht Captain turned broker Curtis Stokes has just listed the yacht with an asking price of US$ 20 million.
Built in Turkey during 2001 as Anatolia she became Vajoliroja when owned by the film star Johnny Depp. She became Amphitrite when he sold her.
Refitted extensively in 2009 and every bit the modern motor yacht, the 47 metre yacht is readily identified by classic styling, raked masts and bowsprit.
Her layout includes a master stateroom on the main deck, 5 total staterooms and extensive exterior dining, entertaining and relaxation spaces, all of which has made her a popular charter yacht.
Powered by twin Caterpillar 3406C 480 hp main engines, she is capable of speeds up to 13 knots. Twin Northern Lights 55 kW generators, 2 ASea shore power conversion units, Quantum Zero-Speed stabiliser system and updated electronics and audio/visual equipment are among her many attractions. The sales particulars however make no mention of a wand.
