Turkish Shipyard Group Buys into MB92

D-Marin Investments Holding, a subsidiary of the Turkey-based Doğuş Group has acquired a 70 per cent stake in Barcelona refit shipyard Marina Barcelona 92 (MB92).

The investment, which values MB’92 at €80 million, has been secured to develop increased international presence in both the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic, as well as to fund internal projects, including the installation of a second shiplift.

The current management team retains a 30% interest and will continue to control daily operations of the shipyard.

Marina Barcelona 92 (MB’92) provides service-refit, repair and maintenance works to more than 90 superyachts per year with overall lengths from 35 up to 220 metres.

It is located in the port of Barcelona, a strategic stop-off point for the yachts on their journey between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

The company’s facilities cover a surface area of 76,000m2 and comprise a 220-metre dry-dock, a 2,000-ton Syncrolift, a 125-meter paint shed, a 150-ton travelift as well as docking repair quays with capacity to berth 8 yachts up to 110 metres in length and another berthing repair area for 6 yachts up to 220 metres.

The concession to maintain the shipyard within the port facilities of Barcelona was renewed in 2010 for 30 years.
