Looking back it is difficult to believe that it was one year ago when we last visited the IMS Shipyards near Toulon.

Back then IMS 700 the larger of the company’s adjacent shipyards was still in the final stages of completion.

Hard standing was almost complete and the sheds were being prepared for the first yachts to arrive.

Today the shipyard is all but complete a staggering undertaking that has seen Frances largest naval helicopter and seaplane navel base be transformed into what is the largest yacht repair and refit shipyard in the entire Mediterranean.

Already yachts have used the facilities on offer and they include the likes of

  • Kinta
  • Lady M
  • Mirgab VI
  • Roxane
  • Sibelle

Next week the largest today the 77 metre Australian built Silverfast will call in the yard for a quick wash and brush up before she attends the Monaco Yacht Show later this month.

As winter approaches so the yard will fill with yachts up to 670 tonnes deadweight seeking to spend the season ashore on the hard and others seeking work and refits.

The private and fully secured yard is well positioned just 95 nm east of Monaco and 52 from St Tropez. It offers over 77,000 m2 of wharfage and an in water repair zone of some 50,000 m2

Five massive sheds offer under cover work areas for yachts and the area is so massive that yachts with major works are allocated there own office.

Out of work hours the yard has plenty to offer the crew after a hard day at work including rec rooms gyms and even a brand new BBQ area
