Foreign Flagged Yachts to Attend Sydney Superyacht Show

Suggesting that the Australian Government does listen to industry trade associations comes news exclusively brought to light by www.theoworths.com that leading international brokers will be able to exhibit yachts flying flags other than that of Australia at the Sydney Superyacht Show

Following the lead of the Ft Lauderdale show where foreign yachts can be exhibited but not purchased by US citizens when in US waters Australian Customs officials have confirmed they will allow a process where this can be facilitated.

The Sydney Superyacht Show’s exclusive Customs Agent, Dean Sharples of DMS Global, tells us he can handle the Customs temporary entry permits for these vessels on arrival.

Dates for the second edition of the Sydney Superyacht Show have changed in response to industry feedback. The new dates, Friday 9th to Sunday 11th October, allow international brokers time to return to Sydney from Cannes and Monaco, and for a newly configured Superyacht Marina to be completed.

Richard Morris of Australian Superyachts said the change will accommodate more brokers, who are already confirming their attendance at this year’s event.

“We heard from several key brokers and brands, both here and in New Zealand, and some interested sponsors that October would suit them better. Moving the event to the second weekend in October after the school holidays gives our partners, brokers and sponsors more mileage in the lead-up to the event. A change of dates also opens up the possibility of charter yachts attending from interstate and overseas.”

Peter Lovett, of Geoff Lovett International, confirms, “Interest from the leading Australian brokerage houses is high, and all brokers appreciated the move to the new date.”

Yachts that have booked in so far, include  models from

  • Sunseeker
  • Maritimo
  • Azimut
  • Cresta
  • Precision
  • Hampton

The Sydney Superyacht Show will showcase new as well as pre-owned superyachts and luxury vessels currently for sale. There will be as many as 12 separate brokerage companies booking in vessels for the show, with yachts ranging in size from 50 to 135 feet (15 to 41 metres).

Australia’s leading brokers involved in the event will utilise their individual databases to personally invite key clients. The show will be held at the Sydney Superyacht Marina in Rozelle, and offers free parking and entry for VIP visitors.
