Shyraga is For Sale Through Camper & Nicholsons

shyraga

One of the first superyachts I was ever honoured to command was the 29m Shyraga

Now she has joined the Camper & Nicholsons fleet of yachts for sale.

Built in steel at the German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen, she carried a six metre beam and a tonnage of about 122 tons.

She was originally built for Enrico Piaggio the designer of the Italian motor scooter brand Vespa. He named her Shyraga a word from the Japanese language that means beautiful lady

What I remember most about her was her harmonious lines and the well proportioned and characteristic canoe stern. She was the work of Laurent Giles a designer well known at the time for his innovative sailboats. Giles superbly interpreted the owners request for an elegant, tough, sea kindly hull. It was such a success that after Shyraga‘s launch in 1954 he had a considerable increase in similar commissions, all for large motoryachts.

After our time on board this classic 1950’s yacht has been completely refitted to a ‘better than new’ vessel with an elegant interior and spacious decks.

Shyraga‘s interior is full of high-end furnishings such as solid mahogany and luxury carpets, giving her a classic and elegant feel.

Perfect for families and friends, she accommodates eight guests in four luxurious cabins, including a large master stateroom, a VIP and two further upper/lower staterooms.

An extensive refit from 2006 to 2008 not only lead her to win refitted awards in 2009 and 2010, but has also left her in first-class condition for a new Owner to enjoy.
