Greater Fort Lauderdale Invests in Hotels Ahead of FLIBS

Greater Fort Lauderdale, is ploughing more than £616 million into hotel development and much of it will be of benefit to those visiting the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show (FLIBS) later this year.

With more than £471 million in new hotel development and £145 million in reinvestment and renovations, the Greater Fort Lauderdale hotel landscape is undergoing an exciting metamorphosis.

Among the new hotels is Beachwalk Resort alongside the Intracoastal Waterway in Hallandale Beach, with 216 bedrooms and suites, infinity pool, restaurant, and fitness centre.

Comfort Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport South & Cruise Port Hotels has just opened its doors to guests. The property offers large contemporary suites, free internet, free airport shuttles, 24/7 business centre, meeting space, fitness centre, heated pool and cruise shuttles.

Melia Costa Hollywood Beach Resort a £117 million) property, is set to open in time for the boat show. The hotel will have 304 bedrooms and residential “smart units.” Each bedroom will be equipped with advanced technology including a multilingual electronic concierge, flat screen televisions, full kitchens and an automated valet parking system. It offers a holistic day spa, upscale dining and shopping district, plus a rooftop pool deck overlooking the Intracoastal and Atlantic Ocean.

Runway Resort a high-end boutique property with an aeronautical theme is scheduled to will also open in Hollywood this summer. Its 20 oversized suites feature bathrooms with claw foot tubs and rain showers, combining retro elements with the amenities that today’s travellers seek. Bedrooms will have wet bars, espresso machines, flat screen TVs and entertainment centres with complimentary Wi-Fi and Netflix access.

The new £114 million, 349 bedroom, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort opens just in time for the show on the Broadwalk and is one of the first resorts to span the Intracoastal Waterway and the beach. It will feature seven restaurants/bars, multiple pools, full-service St. Somewhere Spa, double surf wave rider and 30,000 sq. ft. of flexible function space.
