It really was just a question of time untill it did so, but organisers of the ill-fated Antibes Yacht Show have finally seen the light and thrown in the towel.
Typically rather than blame themselves for putting on a half hearted effort the loss making organisers have blamed the industry suggesting there was a “lacklustre enthusiasm from exhibitors.”
A spokesman for the show also cited “limited budgets” and “exhibitors tardiness in booking space” as other key factors.
It may however be a postponement rather than cancellation the City Hall of Antibes has asked ASAP, the association for leisure boating professionals in Antibes, to organise a replacement event for yachting professionals.
AYS has organized and staged the show since 2007 and the last show in April 2014 saw around 12,000 visitors, of which 54% were foreign, and 164 international exhibitors pass through the gates.
Angelique Ciurelo, AYS manager, is reported to have told yachting media, “The 9th Antibes Yacht Show, planned for April 23-26 in Port Vauban has been postponed until next year, which will allow AYS to start again on new footing with improved organisation and communication projects for 2016 and a completely new team”
