Superyacht Meamina introduces Yacht Carbon Offset

Exploring ways to improve environmental performance in all areas of operation the superyacht Meamina (ex Lady Lara) has started using Yacht Carbon Offset’s service to counteract the greenhouse gas impact of all fuel delivered to the yacht.
Meamina has completed another busy charter season in the Caribbean and is back chartering in the Mediterranean for the summer.

Matching the greenhouse gas emissions from her engines & generators, tonne for tonne, with equivalent emissions reductions from verified green energy projects, this active 59m Benetti built superyacht will be using a Gold Standard renewable energy project in Turkey for her initial carbon offset programme.

Steve Barker, Meamina’s Captain commented: “Motor Yacht Meamina is evolving this year, operating in a more environmentally responsible way.  Without compromising our very high chartering standards, we will re-evaluate many areas of daily operations, both behind the scenes and in providing greener choices to guests on-board. Though we already do seek to be fuel efficient, the fuel demands of a powerful, luxurious Yacht like this are vast. So it is great we can respond effectively and economically to her greenhouse gas impact.”
Yacht Carbon Offset’s Mark Robinson said: “It is increasingly important to many owners and charterers, especially those that are high profile or who are concerned about the impact that their lifestyle may have on the climate.”
Yacht Carbon Offset provides a fully-documented service for those that own and enjoy the world’s leading superyachts and has Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Certification.
