Got fours to spare? If you do and are looking for a low cost way of getting a guided walking tour of the city of Santiago then here it is.
Every day at either 10 am or 3pm starting in front of the Cathedral of Santiago they start walking tours using qualified an d English speaking guides. Look out for the guides in red “Free Tour” T shirts to begin the experience
Nothing of course is completely free and the guides do expect a tip but what you leave is up to you.
The walking tour takes in museums, government buildings of interest, the old theatre and historical monuments. Parks and a trip up the awe inspiring St. Christopher Hill are all included.
For a more personal version of the same area private guides can be organised through TurisTour.
Freelance guides working for the company charge a modest fee but tailor the tour to your exact requirements. Paulina Cerda entertained us most wonderfully during our four hour marathon the highlight of which was the views from the top of the hill overlooking the sprawling city.
From the top on a clear summers day with temperatures topping 30 C you can pick out the ski centre in the Andes just one hours drive away.
