Garmin has been appointed by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) as an Official Supplier to the British Sailing Team.  As part of the partnership agreement, the company will be working with the RYA’s Olympic and Paralympic Classes and Youth sailors and coaches up until 2017.

All members of the British Sailing Team’s Podium squad will have Garmin’s quatix or Forerunner 910XT advanced GPS watches for on and off water training, while Podium Potential sailors, team coaches and members of the RYA UK Youth squads will receive substantial product discounts to aid their effectiveness in training.
The RYA will also be using the company’s new VIRB Elite action cameras, which allow on board footage to be captured in high definition and overlaid with real-time GPS, speed and compass data, enabling the sailors and coaches to film, review and improve the boat and crew performance.
The Forerunner 910XT and quatix watches are perfect for improving fitness and performance.  Ideal for running, cycling and swimming as well as sailing, they show distance, pace, elevation, heart rate and, through Garmin Connect, enables you to plan training routes and programmes no matter where you are in the world.”
We have not tried those products yet but we have enjoyed putting the Garmin Montana through its paces on our most recent of traveladventures
We have used it hiking in the mountains of Patagonia, we have used it as a chart plotter sailing around Cape Horn, used it in all terrain mode riding horses with Gauchos across the Pampas and as a city guide to get around Buenos Aires.  All in all it’s a good all round device and handing to have so many features in one hand held device.
