Preparing to Sail Round Cape Horn

We are getting ready for another of our trips to Chile that transpose so well on to the pages of Invictus Magazine.

This time we will sail even further south and will Round the Horn a first for both Frances and I.

We will be sailing on board Via Australis a delightful little ship operated by Australis the Expedition Cruise specialists.

Our trip takes us first to Santiago in Chile.  The last time we landed there was in preparation for our voyage on board Atmosphere.  One that occasion the airport had been devastated by the earthquake in March 2010.

From Santiago we will fly to Punta Arenas in the south of Chile and join the ship for a 4 day cruise ending up in Ushuaia, Argentina.

From there we plan to travel to Buenos Aires where we will research and write another of our superyacht destination features, this time concentrating on what the River Plate has to offer superyachts.

It is bound to be an adventurous trip and we are bing helped along the way by many kind people and companies.

Be sure to stay with us as we endeavour to blog each day detailing where we are and what we are doing.  Bear in mind that the Cape Horn has been described as the ends of the earth that means Internet coverage might not be as great as we might all wish so please bear with us if the blog goes off line occasionally.

We welcome any travel tips and advice so please do get in touch if you have any.
