The Monaco Yacht Show runs for just four days, Wednesday, Thursday Friday and it reserves Saturday for tyre kickers day.
One month or so later the Fort Lauderdale InternationalBoat Show runs for five days with Thursday and Friday set aside for business, the weekend becomes a free for all so that tyre kickers can make the organisers a shed full of money from ticket sales and then the Monday is a beer and skittles day which is largely deserted.

This means that while there is plenty of time at Monaco to organise press conferences and networking events there is just two days for such functions at FLIBS.
The result is that everyone tries to get the media to attend an event in the first two days. Press conferences clash with lunches and happy hours bump into parties and the result is that they are all under-attended by those whose presence, the organisers are seeking to attract.
Pity the organisers then of the several events that take place this year in the early morning of Friday November the 1st.
