Yacht Designer Strikes Out in His Own Name in Time for Monaco Yacht Show

With over 500 metres of super yacht currently in build designer Steve Gresham has chosen now to stop working for other top design names and strike out on his own.
He will be at the Monaco Yacht Show for talks with owners about new projects.
Working alongside interior designers and decorators, providing a full design service, from inception to completion, using our team of creative talent, he hopes to specialise in the exterior design and styling of yachts, from his offices in rural Hampshire.
The philosophy behind Gresham Yacht Design (GYD) is that there is more to super yacht design than an exceptional exterior design studio.

Steve believes, “It isn’t just the styling of the exterior, it’s much more – we plan and layout the space of the interior – make sure that all the interior rooms have the correct windows size and shape and most importantly that there is enough space for the engine room and mechanical / technical spaces.
Steve’s sketching, drawing and model making skills are excellent and this is his signature strength – he can explore design on the page and has a great understanding of 3D and form and can express this in front of the client.
He believes; “The style of the yacht is dictated by the owners’ wishes and requirements.  GYD style is current and innovative, we like to push the boundaries and not be too conservative – to develop and explore new original concepts, but always with an eye on the feasibility of these designs – GYD has developed yacht balconies where previously there were none – we have an eye for proportion and balance – the surfaces of a yacht are what define the exterior – the treatment of these surfaces and the detailed design of them marks the contrast between a yacht that is “produced” and one that is designed.”
