Formerly known as Soneva Gili by Six Senses, Gili Lankanfushi is a luxury resort set on its own private intimate coral island in a sparkling lagoon. Lankanfushi is in the North Malé Atoll is just a 20-minute speedboat ride from the International Airport at Malé, but coming from Four Seasons Kuda Huraa, we take just 10 minutes to move from one resort to another.
We carve a creamy white wake across the blue Indian Ocean, flying fish speed away across the surface as our bow cuts through the water at 25 knots. Everywhere you look, marine life abounds, and the gleaming waters beckon.
As we pass through the channel into the lagoon we get our first good look at this resort. We have not been here for over ten years but it looks much the same. It has resisted the temptation to expand the same jetties thread out across the water out to spacious villa accommodations and the same number of Crusoe Residences stand alone in the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean. Secluded for total privacy the only way these amazing villas can be accessed is by private rowing boat or by pontoon boat shuttle.
In fact the only visible change is the building of a brand new private Villa standing proudly in the lagoon.
This 5-star resort is all about privacy, luxury dining comes in the form of a private dinner on this secluded island. The cuisine will whet your appetite with fresh offerings and local produce, while the extraordinary settings will leave an indelible impression.
The surroundings are teeming with marine life and the resort has its own fully-equipped PADI diving school plus a variety of water sports. This place tops the list of must-do destinations for those in the know.
Gili Lankanfushi is very sensitive to the environment. The utmost care has been taken in developing the island with respect to its ecological balance.
We will stay here for three days. Follow our blogs while we tell you all about it.
