Superyacht Support Ltd, the Superyacht agent in Auckland, New Zealand is joining Asia’s leading network of yachting services, Asia Pacific Superyachts and will begin trading as Asia Pacific Superyachts NZ Ltd. as of 1 August 2013.
Founded by Jeanette Tobin to grow the cruising and charter market in New Zealand whilst also supporting vessel in refit, Asia Pacific Superyachts NZ will continue to offer a more personalised service. The founder notes, “We are all passionate in showcasing New Zealand as a definite option for yachts coming to NZ for cruising and chartering. With over 15,000km of coastline dotted with sheltered islands and harbours offering subtropical white sandy beaches in the north of the North Island, with Sounds and almost Jurassic type fiords in the South Island.”
“Food and wine are important to all New Zealanders and we lead the charge of award winning new world wines. Adventures abound with Queenstown in the South Island being the adventure capital of New Zealand and home to the ‘Bungee Jump’. All of this is tied in with the underlying Maori culture bringing a laid-back Polynesian lifestyle”, Jeanette reports.
“We are proud to be the Pacific arm of Asia Pacific Superyachts and spearhead the support into the Pacific of vessels coming down from the Americas and up into Asia and vice versa”, states the NZ director. Asia Pacific Superyachts provides a comprehensive and unique range of services to support visiting Superyachts throughout Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region.
The network covers the Andaman Islands, Borneo, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Phuket and Koh Samui, Thailand – and now New Zealand, all primed to provide world class service and supplies for every need.
APS welcomes New Zealand in joining Asia’s top affiliation of professional Superyacht agents in Asia, which will now provide excellent care for vessels arriving to cruise and charter NZ waterways. “We are passionate about growing our region and are the leading experts in the Asia Pacific Region for all faucets of Superyachting including cruising, chartering & refit”, enthuses APS Board member Captain Charlie Dwyer of APS Samui, Thailand and skipper of Yanneke Too.
“Of the 200 superyachts heading to the Pacific, New Zealand only hosts approximately 50 per year; and of these only 10 or so cruise or charter while the rest stay for refits”, Jeanette explains. “We want to be able to grow this number. We turn away 8-10 charters per season because the vessels aren’t here which is distressing for the New Zealand economy and for the interested guests unable to come and explore such a stunningly varied country. We want to change this.”
