Didim Marina in Turkey

Didim Marina (D-Marin Didim) was constructed at a cost of over $50 million by Doğuş Group.  It became operational in 2009 and offers berths for yachts up to 50 metres.

Facilities include a 400-ton  lift, dry docks, hangars, maintenance yard, shopping mall, restaurants and visitor facilities.

The yacht club which has a Bar, Resturant, and hotel rooms is badly run and over priced despite, or perhaps because of, the discounts it offers to berth holders.

In the Bar and Restaurant  service is shoddy and food unexciting.  In the hotel,  rooms are large and pleasantly facilitated but housekeeping is downright disgraceful.  It was well after 2pm before our room was made up or the previous nights room service remnants removed.

Didim, the nearest town is built on the site of of the ancient city of Didyma with its ruined Temple of Apollo. It is a small and popular if somewhat down market seaside holiday resort full of Brits walking around badly attired and behaving in a way that clearly shows little respect for the fact that Turkey is a Muslim country.

Locally it is hoped that with the arrival of the new marina further tourism and a rise in residential property prices will follow.
