Today is 17th April. The Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) will enter into force in 106 days.
Will your management comply in time?
With the upcoming MLC requirements well in advance of the expected entry into force 1st August 2013.
In the last six months, the Andrew Weir Yacht Management has completed its DMLC Part II, which has been approved by Flag authorities as being compliant with the MLC.
In addition, pre-MLC inspections have been carried out on 75% of the vessels managed by the company.
The company’s main crew manager and supplier have similarly received confirmation from flag authorities that their contracting and payroll arrangements are MLC compliant.
To complete the process, a meeting has been arranged with the UK MCA to check and approve the remaining MLC requirements including the company’s Seafarer’s Employment Agreements.
Once the final items are agreed, Andrew Weir will be one of the first Yacht Management companies to be fully compliant with this vital “fourth pillar” of international maritime law.
