Super Yacht Boss Quits to Build Small Boats

Mike Burnham the former Managing Director of RMK the Turkish super yacht builder has left the company to build and market smaller yachts in the UK
He has created The Boat Development Company Ltd a new venture between himself and Chris Clayton, managing director of Bucklers Hard Boat Builders
Back in January of this year, Alison and Barry Kimber, owners of Seaward Marine, announced that they were seeking buyers for the business following their decision to retire.
Seaward Marine had produced commercial and pleasure craft for customers worldwide for over 33 years, but in the end it had to suspend production due to lack of orders and make eight staff members redundant.
Having now taken on the company’s assets, the newly formed Boat Development Company promises to take Seaward products forward into the future – servicing and support will continue from the original Seaward factory at Cowes.
Burnham, said: “It’s a new company building the well proven products. Barry and Alison Kimber will be helping us go forward and we sincerely hope that many of the dedicated and skillful people who previously worked at Seaward will work with us in the future.”
The Seaward range starts with the newly developed single engine 19 and runs up to the well renowned and iconic Nelson 42 that is available in various versions to suit both professional and leisure users.
