Hein Velema
CEO at Fraser Yachts states “The French government is being put under pressure by the European Commission to implement VAT on charters starting in France. It is still unclear if, when and under what conditions France will implement VAT on charters. It looks like the French will not charge VAT on the charters booked before the new regulations come in place. If that is the case we expect a run on charters once this knowledge is confirmed and public.
What will the summer charter season be like? Velema is very positive about this current market “The charter winter season is so far the best since 2009, with double digit growth in comparison with last year. American clients in particular have done more and more expensive charters, mainly in the Caribbean. Also for the summer season charter bookings are coming in which is a good sign.
