Created by professional yacht crew for professional yacht crew with standardisation in mind, Superyacht Operating Systems (SOS) is a new online group of experienced yachting professionals.
They understand the needs and shortcomings of the yachting industry because they have all been involved in the operation of large and small yachts for over 20 years.
The organisation seeks to freely deliver consistency through efficient and productive documentation so even when crew turnover happens the yachts’ operation never misses a beat.
It does so by publishing a shared database of quality operational documents will allow professional yacht Captains and crew to select the format or wording they like best and then download and edit the document to fit their operation.
Every yacht owner and captain has different needs, so in addition to making the Web site pay by selling advertising they also provide everyone who subscribes to the site with the ability to become an author, so they can upload their documents into the shared database and be credited for their work.
The driving force behind the idea is super yacht Captain David Clarke best known as the commander of the 73 metre Delta built Laurel
As a mariner he has completed well over 500,000 nautical miles around six continents during his 27-year career at sea.
For the last 15 years, he has been in command of super yachts of which Laurel is the largest
