Largest Super Yacht Ever Built in Holland Sees Light of Day

After more than four years in the making, Project Dream the 99-metre motor yacht built by Feadship de Vries has left the massive building hall in Makkum.

Until such time as Oceanco launch the sailing yacht they have under construction, she is also the largest superyacht built to date in the Netherlands
Designed by Andrew Winch, she is a slender lightweight vessel that, despite her length, can attain a speed well over 24 knots.

Capitalising on the builder’s engineering experience gleaned on motor yachts Predatorand Tango, she is capable of such speeds thanks to her highly efficient hull form and quadruple engines driving controllable pitch propellers swift and efficiently.

Experience of a different kind underpinned some of the other special requests for this latest member of the Feadship fleet. Leveraging on the expertise accrued on 81 metre Air, launched in 2011, and the fully enclosed helicopter hangar which was developed for 86-metre Ecstaseafrom 2004, Dream is the second group built super yacht to feature such a certified helicopter storage system.
The project is an example of the builder’s ability to build super yachts exactly according to client specifications – in this case a striking and sleek concept presented by AWD, resulting in a totally custom creation.
Marketing Manager Francis Vermeer says, “Because we start every project afresh and are not building from an existing platform, all things are possible for a Feadship owner. It’s all part of the experience that makes creating a Feadship such fun for our clients.”
The builder enters 2013 with a solid order book and super yachts under construction ranging from 44 metres to 101.5 metres

Clearly there will be many more surprises as the year unfolds.
