With over 20 years experience and a wealth of certificates and qualifications having worked at sea and on shore for some of the biggest names in passenger ferries, cruise ships and luxury yachts Frédéric Laporte has joined YPI as its new head of Yacht Management
An experienced Master Mariner / Chief Engineer Class 1 and Fleet Manager Fred has worked most recently, as Fleet Manager for 16 yachts with Camper & Nicholsons.
Born near Paris, France and brought up in Nice, Fred joined Camper & Nicholsons Yacht Management in Antibes in 2008 where he remained for 4 years as Fleet Manager directly in charge of the management of 16 yachts as well as being responsible for the divisions’ own business development.
A few months back he heard YPI was looking for someone new to head up its successful yacht management division.
“I was looking for more responsibility, a chance to really prove myself,” he says, “and ideally with a solid operation that had some good roots. It was an opportunity I really couldn’t resist.”
Married with two children, Fred is passionate about sailing, skiing, golf and tennis though readily admits his new post and parenthood generally won’t be leaving too much time for sampling many of those passions just yet
