With cyber criminals getting increasingly more savvy and bolder in their method of attacks, an onboard solution for superyachts that uses highly innovative technology to detect and block unknown, targeted threats before they compromise the yacht’s network is an important consideration.
The Yacht Technologies business of SELEX Elsag, has as part of its HorizonX offering, enhanced its integrated cyber security offering with the introduction of FireEye a proven solution to help combat onboard network security threats. FireEye comes from Milpitas, California-based network security company that provides dynamic malware protection and automated threat forensics.
The announcement comes as the demand for highly sophisticated technologies continues to grow. Faster and more cost effective onboard connections have not only resulted in always-on broadband, but also guests who think nothing of plugging their internet-connected laptops and mobile phones into the yacht’s systems.
