Nice Matin the local daily newspaper in the south of France is reporting that the 19m yacht ‘Pride of Stavanger’ caught fire yesterday on 10 May and was very badly fire damaged on the Quai de Rambaud in the centre of the Port of Antibes.
The Norwegian owned yacht caught fire around 12.40 and 40 firefighters were called out to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was under control, divers were called in to seal suction inlets to stop the yacht from sinking.
A preliminary investigation by Antibes police concluded that the fire was accidental. The fire is thought to have started in the cooling system of the engine room.
