The winter charter season was weak during the holiday period and is still relatively slow, say Fraser Yachts.

For non-Americans the Caribbean seems to have gone out of fashion; while the clubs and restaurants in the West Med continue to reinvent themselves, the West Indies are keeping their traditional approach to hospitality.

However the good news is that the bookings for the summer season are as strong as last year at this stage, with solid demand coming from the US market. Also South America and particularly Brazil are enjoying a growing demand for charter.

Now that most charter rates are at a reasonable level there appears to be less expectation of large discounts.
