The placement figures for superyacht crew continues to improve with the high demand for licensed engineers providing the greatest opportunities.
The Crew Network reports that the market for crew placement started to improve at the end of 2010 and the results are still getting better. The supply and demand for crew is in balance but there are huge differences between one type of job and another.
There are however many Captains still looking for a job and they are actively promoting themselves, on the other hand, there is a lack of certificated engineers.
It is almost impossible to find experienced engineers willing to take up superyacht positions and the only way to make them commit is to offer them a rotational position.
There are some good engineers available from Eastern Europe but the market seems to prefer the Anglo Saxon engineers but managers at the Crew Network expect that this will change in the future.
