Just before it welcomes the 21st Monaco Yacht Show the Principality will host the 10th Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe.
The glamourous event will take place between the 14th and 18th September 2011.
Organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco it brings together an exceptional line up of boats including
- Traditional sailing yachts
- Vintage motoryachts
- Period motorboats
All 80 boats will participate within an ambiance of the bygone La Belle Epoque era.
This edition will be very much marked by the centenary of Mariquita, the magnificent 38m gaff cutter.
One of the most historic regattas to take place for almost a century, it will bring together the last four remaining 15 M IR boats still sailing:
- Mariska (1908),
- Hispania (1909)
- Tuiga (1909)
- The Lady Anne (1912)
Event highlights will include:
‘La Belle Classe’ Cocktail Party, 16 September, under the Patronage of Christopher Navarre, CEO of Moët Hennessy, in the presence of Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot
At this event the ‘La Belle Classe’ prize will be awarded to someone who as both encouraged the preservation of the maritime heritage and promoted high quality craftsmanship in the doing so.
This year the jury of yacht experts and marine historians will be presided over by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, one of the world’s most famed sailors.
‘La Nuit du Yachting’ Evening, 17 September, taking place at the Monaco Oceanographic Museum where the ‘Personalité de la Mer 2011’ prize will be awarded.
