Kemal Cambol 1954 – 2011
Kemal Cambol, Chairman and CEO of Peri Yachts in Turkey, died on July 20th after a short illness, he was 57.
Passionate about boatbuilding he set up Peri Yachts in 2005 choosing the Antalya Free Zone in Turkey as his base.
There had never been any doubt he would eventually achieve this; his lifelong ambition.
Boatbuilding was his life. He had started at the age of 13 when the US navy left some boats behind when they left their base close to where he lived.
He took moulds from these 7 metre boats with polyurethane and reproducing was his first venture into boat building.
He then committed himself to the steel industry working with a successful family business; but his early attempts at boatbuilding stayed with him and he built several boats over the next 30 years while continuing in the steel business.
He established Peri Yachts in 2005 and set about building a range of yachts built in composite.
Having delivered 8 yachts from 29 to 41 meters in 5 years the tragic irony of his untimely death means that the 37 metre yacht he had commissioned for his own use was just days away from launching.
Kemal Cambol was a visionary who will be missed by all in the SuperYacht World.
As a leader, he inspired his workforce not only by his consistent success both at Peri Yachts and his other companies, but also by his values and human qualities.
His passion for his work and his personality set the example for all to follow
The team he leaves behind him are committed to furthering his achievements and keeping his philosophy alive with the enthusiasm, motivation and strength that he instilled in all of them.
He is survived by his wife Fusun and daughter Ceylan who will continue to run the company.
