Charter manager and broker with the Swiss based clearing-house Floating Life, Filippo Rossi recommends spicing up a charter by starting from Singapore and heading towards Malaysia.
“Singapore and Malaysia, are ideally located at the heart of the Southeast Asia, and are both great favourites of mine. The city is the region’s most vibrant gateway to over 100 charter anchorages and is the perfect place to stop or start a luxury cruise of Asia.
Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia is a bustling metropolis that uniquely blends the traditional with the modern and where east meets west.
Eat Satay a simple kebab of different meats enriched by peanuts sauce its great! Enjoy exceptional shopping, dining opportunities and marvel at other attractions such as the Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world.
Not far from the city, lies Langkawi, the island of myths and legends. It offers fabulous anchorages, pristine beaches, and mysterious mangroves. It is considered to be the playground of Asias rich and famous and you can quite see why they like it when you get there.
Delve into the local legends and discover more about the virtuous Mahsuri, the Seven Wells Waterfalls where fairies bathe and the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden or visit Awana Porto Malai, where you can shop, dine and enjoy a cultural show. The Royal Lankgawi Yacht Club, one of the finest in the world always extends a welcome to visiting yachtsmen and that includes Charter Yachts.
On the other side of the Malaysia peninsula I love Redang Island or “Pulau Redang”, for me it is one of the most captivating of islands in Malaysia. Perfect windy spot for watersports like kiteboarding and windsurfing. Crystal clear blue waters, pure white sands and swaying coconut trees what more do you want? Dip below the surface and be greeted by beautiful corals and spectacular seascapes of colourful fish as you go diving and snorkeling. The area around the island has been declared as a Marine Park to preserve its natural beauty. It is one of my favourite places to just relax and soak in the sun.
