Futuristic Catamaran from Ward Setzer Designs

The Setzer Design Group the superyacht design team based in Cary, North Carolina has release drawings of a futuristic Catamaran which studio head Ward Setzer says is being worked on for yards in Asia to build.

The VL-20 is another design from the firm’s Vision Line and at first glance, the 20-metre multi-hull appears to be a somewhat radical departure from the studio’s typical work.

The hull’s twin reverse axe-bows and swept lines are said to be highly functional, powered by twin pod drives. The extreme sculpting of the main house and deck superstructure is designed to blend in with elements, inspired by client requests, and mimic sports car designs.

Accommodations include:

  • Three guest staterooms
  • Generous saloon
  • Pilothouse
  • Galley and pantry

The boat comes with various equipment lockers, an over-sized aft deck, and a retracting swim platform sport deck.

Ward Setzer founded the Setzer Design Group having served as staff designer for the late J.B. Hargrave and, later, manager of Hatteras Yachts Custom Division. The studio’s custom and production vessels have received numerous awards. His designs have been featured in many international industry magazines and journals over the firm’s history. He is also a member of the board of directors of the International Superyacht Society.
