Wally Launches a Second 100 foot Superyacht
The new 30 metre sloop Y3K from Wally has been craned into the water at Ancona. A development of the current Y3K she has been built for an owner who is a truly passionate sailor and enjoys cruising with his family. He will use this boat to race competitively as he has done with his previous yachts and the yacht is expected to make her first appearance at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, September 6-12.
The new high volume yacht carries a powerful sail plan and features many underwater appendages derived from those developed to be carried by yachts competing in the last America’s Cup. She has a trim-tab fixed keel, PBO rigging is in PBO, and a carbon fibre mast developed by High Modulus. Her 3-metre long bowsprit allows for the carriage of more downwind sail area. Her hull has been constructed using the latest composite technology with pre-preg carbon to keep the displacement to just 57 tons
The deck layout features; twin helming positions, a slim coach roof with a central skylight flooding natural light to the central corridor down below, and a large cockpit amidships with table and seats that can accommodate eight people. Those enjoying the exhilarating sail the yacht is expected to offer can use a second and slightly smaller cockpit aft, in complete safety.
The interior accommodates up to eight guests and four crew. The owner stateroom is forward with a large queen size bed, plenty of storage cabinets, and a forward en-suite bathroom. Two identical guest double cabins are on either side of the central corridor, each featuring twin beds a Pullman for occasional use and an en-suite bathroom. Owner’s and guests cabins are separated from the crew, navigation and service areas by a door to enhance privacy and quite.
