The traditional dress arrangement of the people of Oman is important and unlike many other countries is frequently seen in everyday use. There is also one elegant accessory that is seen on more ceremonial occasions.

The Khanjar is a curved bladed dagger that is so important it even forms part of the country’s national emblem.

The handle often features a beautifully carved wooden handle while ivory and silver where used as handles in the past.

The sheath features intricate silver filigree detail and shows where the wearer hails from.

This very old and rare Khanjar belonged to someone form the ruling family was found in Alibabas Gift shop where it is for sale at around £5,000.

Its 7 rings identify it as coming from the Al Said dynasty and this one is thought to be 150 or so years old.
